The Independent Election Commission (IEC) revealed the names of 369 party-affiliated candidates in local constituencies who have disclosed their names for the purpose of running in the upcoming parliamentary elections. In a statement on Monday, the IEC explained that the names published on its website (www.iec.jo) are related to party affiliates within the lists of candidates for local constituencies, according to the disclosures of those parties to the IEC. It explained that the period of their affiliation with the parties varied between more than 6 months and less than that, stressing that not all candidates on the local lists are partisans. The IEC added that the total number of candidates on local constituencies is 945, including 369 party candidates disclosed by their parties, for a rate of 38.6 percent, distributed across 18 local constituencies, while the number of candidates on general constituency seats allocated to parties was 686 male and female.
