Beirut: Minister of Agriculture, Nizar Hani, clarified in an interview with Free Lebanon radio station that the postponement of the Cabinet’s initial session to discuss the army’s disarmament plan was ‘purely technical.’ The military requested more time because of the ‘importance and sensitivity of the issue.’
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Hani emphasized the government’s commitment to its ministerial statement and the President’s oath of office. He urged patience, stating, “Let’s wait for the army’s input, and then the appropriate decision will be taken.”
Hani also confirmed the government’s ongoing efforts to collect weapons from Palestinian camps, highlighting that the monopolization of arms remains a top priority and is progressing as planned.
The Agriculture Minister expressed hope that Shiite ministers would not boycott the session. He noted that ‘the component that holds weapons is a key national player,’ and reiterated that the disarmament file includes 11 clear, consensus-based dema
nds. This initiative is part of a broader national agreement addressing Israeli aggression, prisoner return, and border sovereignty.
