AGRICULTURE MINISTRY STOPS SHIP LOADED WITH ROTTEN RICE AT TRIPOLI’S PORT

 

NNA – The Ministry of Agriculture announced in a statement today that a team at the Agricultural Quarantine Center in Tripoli’s Port has seized a ship loaded with rotten rice coming from China, containing high proportions of molds and residues of toxic pesticides.

 

The statement added that the vessel, carrying 31 thousand tons of rotten rice, was banned from unloading its cargo.

 

In this connection, the Ministry assured the Lebanese of its “role in strictly controlling all border crossings, in the interest of citizens’ health and food safety.”
