The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, discussed, today, Wednesday, with Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi the upcoming entitlements related to the local elections.

A statement from Al-Maliki’s office stated that he received in his office this evening the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and during the meeting they discussed political and security developments in the country, as well as upcoming events related to local elections.

According to the statement, the head of the State of Law coalition stressed the importance of strengthening the oversight role and issuing laws that are in the interest of the citizen, especially the federal budget law, in order to meet the demands of the Iraqi people, calling on the government to provide the appropriate atmosphere for holding local elections on time.
