Baabda: Maronite Patriarch, Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, on Monday expressed support for President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, and the Lebanese Army during remarks delivered at Baabda Palace.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Al-Rahi said he appreciates Aoun's leadership of the Lebanese state and backs the steps he is taking for the good of the country, adding that he also supports the Lebanese Army and its commander.

The patriarch said he heard reassuring remarks from the president and affirmed support for Christians living in border areas, describing them as a "protective fence for Lebanon" and an essential part of the nation.

Al-Rahi added that he intended to contact Maronite Archbishop of Tyre Charbel Abdallah, urging him to reside in the town of Rmeish as a representative of the patriarch.
