Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Thursday met with the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, with whom he discussed the agency’s work and the challenges it has faced. Aoun praised the measures taken at several Palestinian organization centers in response to these difficulties.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the meeting focused on the current operations of UNRWA and the pressing issues encountered by the agency in fulfilling its mission. Both leaders emphasized the importance of sustaining UNRWA’s efforts to support Palestinian refugees, while addressing the obstacles that have hindered its operations.
During the discussion, Aoun acknowledged the proactive steps implemented at Palestinian organization centers, which have been instrumental in navigating the challenges. The President underscored the need for continued collaboration between Lebanon and UNRWA to ensure the well-being of the Palestinian community.
Philippe Lazzarini, on his part, expressed appreciation for Lebanon’s ongoing support and highlighted the significance of the partnership in bolstering the agency’s initiatives. The dialogue between Aoun and Lazzarini marked a commitment to strengthening efforts aimed at overcoming the operational challenges faced by UNRWA.
