Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday affirmed during a meeting with a delegation from the Bekaa Industrialists Association that efforts are underway to modernize customs scanners and tighten border controls as part of a broader plan to curb smuggling and protect Lebanon’s national industry. Aoun emphasized the critical role of industry in the economy, stating that its growth is essential for narrowing the trade deficit and aiming for exports to match or exceed imports.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Aoun highlighted the importance of developing appropriate legislation to ensure sustained support for the industrial sector. These efforts are part of a strategic initiative to bolster the nation’s economic stability and promote industrial growth. The President’s commitment reflects the government’s focus on enhancing the competitiveness of Lebanese products in international markets, thereby strengthening the overall economic landscape of the country.
