Aoun Engages in Discussions on Financial Stability and Infrastructure Post-Israeli Strikes

Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Friday met Finance Minister, Yassine Jaber, at Baabda Palace to review the country's financial situation and measures being implemented by the ministry. Aoun also received Sami Allouiyeh, who briefed him on the status of the authority's facilities, particularly following Israeli strikes near the Qaraoun Dam. Discussions covered hydroelectric plants, irrigation projects in southern Lebanon, future development plans and operational challenges.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Allouiyeh stated that President Aoun's diplomatic efforts were instrumental in averting a potential disaster at Qaraoun Dam after nearby strikes damaged infrastructure and power supply systems. He highlighted the president's coordination with security agencies to ensure safe access for energy facility personnel.

The meeting further addressed water reserves at Lake Qaraoun and their utilization for hydropower generation. Allouiyeh noted that current water levels remain satisfactory despite pollution challenges, with the reservoir capable of generating around 50 megawatts of electricity for the national grid.

In a separate move, President Aoun sent a message of congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Russia's national day, expressing hope for the continued development of Lebanese-Russian relations.
