Aoun Heads to Rome for Canonization Mass of Ignatius Maloyan

Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, accompanied by First Lady Neemat Aoun, departed Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport this morning en route to Rome to participate in the solemn mass scheduled for tomorrow at the Vatican, where Blessed Bishop Ignatius Maloyan will be officially declared a saint.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the canonization mass will be presided over by Pope Leo I, with Armenian Catholic Patriarch Raphael Bedros XXI Minassian concelebrating. Blessed Maloyan is a prominent figure of the Armenian Catholic Church.
