Aoun Marks ISF Anniversary, Discusses Security, Development and Social Challenges

Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday congratulated the Internal Security Forces on their anniversary, praising their role in protecting citizens, safeguarding the country, and upholding the rule of law. He paid tribute to fallen personnel and reaffirmed his commitment to a state governed by law and strong institutions.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, at Baabda Palace, Aoun met Vatican Ambassador Paolo Borgia, who briefed him on visits to border villages in southern Lebanon and conveyed the concern of Pope Leo XIV for Lebanon's situation. Aoun thanked the Holy See for its support and humanitarian assistance.

The president also received MPs Nabil Badr and Walid Baarini. Badr said discussions focused on national priorities, efforts to end the war, and the proposed general amnesty law. Baarini thanked Aoun for supporting the development of Ren© Mouawad Airport in Kleyat and stressed the need to upgrade surrounding infrastructure and services.

Aoun further met a delegation from the National Council for Social Service, which called for greater support for social institutions caring for vulnerable groups. The president emphasized the importance of a comprehensive national social protection policy and pledged to follow up with relevant ministries on outstanding funding issues.

Separately, Aoun held talks with An-Nahar Group CEO and Editor-in-Chief Nayla Tueni on current local and regional developments. The president also sent a message to Abdullah II on the anniversary of his accession to the throne, reaffirming Lebanon's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation.
