Beirut:President Joseph Aoun expressed approval of US President Donald Trump's decision to lift restrictions on air transport between Lebanon and the United States, viewing it as a sign of confidence in Lebanon's efforts to ensure aviation safety and protect air traffic to and from Beirut.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Aoun thanked Trump for the decision and the anticipated executive measures. He recalled their meeting at the White House in July, where Trump agreed to Aoun's request to remove air travel restrictions between the two nations.

Following the meeting, Trump directed US officials to resume air traffic and issued a statement urging US airlines to restart flights to Beirut. Aoun also extended his gratitude to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and others who contributed to the process.

President Aoun emphasized Lebanon's commitment to civil aviation safety, the security of Rafic Hariri International Airport, and compliance with international standards to ensure passenger safety. He expressed hope that the decision would enhance air transport, improve global connectivity for Lebanon, and foster further cooperation between Lebanon and the United States in various sectors.
