Aoun Reviews Security Situation with State Security, General Security Chiefs

Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday met with Major General Edgar Lawandos, Director General of State Security, to discuss the overall security situation in the country and the agency’s efforts to combat corruption within public administrations and institutions. Aoun also received Major General Hassan Choucair, Director General of General Security, who briefed him on the directorate’s operations across Lebanon and the progress of organized repatriation programs for Syrian refugees returning to their homeland.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Major General Edgar Lawandos provided President Aoun with an update on the current security challenges facing the nation. The discussions focused on strategic measures being implemented to enhance the security framework in Lebanon and the ongoing initiatives to address corruption within various public sectors.

In a separate meeting, Major General Hassan Choucair informed President Aoun about the activities undertaken by the General Secu
rity directorate. He emphasized the importance of the repatriation programs designed to assist Syrian refugees in their voluntary return to Syria, ensuring the process is conducted in an organized and humane manner.
