Beirut: Lebanese Army Commander, General Rodolphe Haykal, met with the Chief of Defense of Italy, General Luciano Portolano, at his office in Yarzeh. The meeting involved discussions on the overall situation in Lebanon and the broader region, particularly in light of recent developments, as well as exploring avenues to strengthen military cooperation between Lebanon and Italy.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the dialogue also focused on the contributions of the Italian contingent serving within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). This contingent plays a significant role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

In addition to the discussions, General Portolano paid tribute to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier located in the courtyard of the Ministry of Defense. This ceremony was attended by General Haykal and several command officers, highlighting the respect and solidarity between the two nations.
