A ceremony honoring the Japanese Embassy was held at the Rafik Hariri Governmental Hospital in appreciation for the Japanese aid to the hospital in the form of medical equipment delivery, as well as the completion of a small grants project funded by the Government of Japan.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, Ghassan Hasbani, represented by the Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Walid Ammar, in the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, Matahiro Yamaguchi, and ranking dignitaries.

The Ambassador of Japan delivered a word on the occasion whereby he praised “the important role played by Lebanon in hosting the largest number of refugees in the world compared to its population as a result of the Syrian crisis.”

He expressed hope that “Japanese grants will ease the impact of the crisis on the health care system in Lebanon by strengthening medical services that will help host communities and refugees,” stressing that “his country will continue to provide support for Lebanon.”
