The president of the Council of Ministers Saad Hariri held this morning talks with his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim on the situation in the region, the bilateral relations and ways to activate economic and trade relations between the two countries, a statement by Hariri’s press office indicated on Wednesday.

The statement added: “Prime Minister Hariri arrived to Cankaya Palace in Ankara where he was received by Premier Yildirim. After listening to the Lebanese and Turkish anthems and reviewing the guards of honor, the two premiers headed to Yildirim’s office where they held a meeting in the presence of the Lebanese Ambassador to Turkey Ghassan al-Mouallem and the Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon Cagatay Erciyes.

Earlier today Hariri visited the mausoleum of the founder of the modern Turkish state Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nouhad Machnouk, former Minister Bassem Sabeh, his chief of staff Nader Hariri, ambassador al-Mouallem and the Secretary-General of the Higher Relief Committee, Major General Mohammed Khair.

Hariri laid a wreath and observed a minute of silence.”
