Beirut: Free Patriotic Movement head, MP Gebran Bassil, commented today on an article by former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif published in the "Foreign Affairs" magazine. In a post on X, Bassil wrote: "Your article, my friend Zarif, is worth reflecting on: you are choosing reason over the illusion of eternal victory. Indeed, true peace is not built on surrender, endless escalation, or aggression against your Arab neighbors, but rather on decisions that stem from strength."

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Bassil further elaborated in his message, emphasizing the importance of Lebanon's sovereignty. He stated, "This is what we have always called for in Lebanon: not to be a card in the hands of others, but a sovereign partner that shapes its own destiny." Bassil's comments underline a consistent stance advocating for Lebanon's independent role in regional politics, free from external influence.
