Brussels: On the second day of his visit to Belgium, Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil participated in the European meeting of FPM’s bodies, where he was briefed on the movement’s work in Europe.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Bassil urged members of the Lebanese diaspora residing there to participate in the electoral process scheduled for next May, emphasizing the importance of their right to vote and run for office, as outlined under the current law. He also highlighted the need to protect or seek additional rights for the diaspora.
Bassil further elaborated on the significance of allocating representatives for the diaspora to draft laws that address their concerns, including issues like the high cost of travel tickets to and from Lebanon.
The meeting also marked the launch of the Council of Europe, intended for political communication with decision-making bodies in every European country. The council aims to engage with politicians, parliamentarians, journalists, and associations to relay FPM’s ideas, clarify any misconceptions, and secure support for Lebanon in European countries.
Bassil’s next stop on his European tour was France, where he engaged in a dialogue session with Lebanese youth residing there. He also met with Batroun residents in France and participated in a meeting organized by the RPL, where he delivered a speech on the occasion.
