Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri on Wednesday hosted Army Intelligence Chief Brigadier General Tony Kahwaji for a meeting at the second presidential headquarters in Ain al-Tineh. The focus of their discussion was on the overall situation in the country, with a particular emphasis on security concerns.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Speaker Berri also held talks with Sheikh Ali Qaddour, the head of the Alawite Islamic Council, at Ain El-Tineh. Their conversation covered the general situation and the latest political developments. Sheikh Qaddour provided an update to Speaker Berri on the status of the Alawite sect, its representation in public institutions, and related legislative matters in Parliament.
Sheikh Qaddour characterized his meeting with Speaker Berri as productive, affirming that adherence to the Taif Agreement remains vital for Lebanon’s recovery from its ongoing crises.
