Berri Engages with Jordanian Deputy Speaker, Discusses Sports with Lebanese Minister, and Schedules Parliamentary Bureau Meeting


Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday hosted Mustafa Khasawneh, the First Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, at the second presidential headquarters in Ain Al-Tineh. The meeting included the presence of Jordanian Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Al-Hadid and Speaker Berri’s media advisor Ali Hamdan.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, discussions focused on regional developments, particularly Israel’s actions against the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and the breach of the ceasefire and UN Resolution 1701. Additionally, the dialogue encompassed bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation between Lebanon and Jordan. Al-Khasawneh conveyed greetings from His Majesty Abdullah II and the Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, reaffirming Jordan’s support for Lebanon.



In a separate meeting, Speaker Berri met with Lebanon’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Nora Bayrakdarian, to discuss the general situation and recent developments concerning youth sectors, federations, and sports facilities. The Sports Ministry released a statement highlighting Minister Bayrakdarian’s initiative to unify the sports community and form a consensus Olympic committee. She also presented future projects intended at various levels and received guidance from Speaker Berri.



Speaker Berri also held talks with Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud regarding the current situation in the capital. Furthermore, he scheduled a meeting for the Parliament’s Bureau at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22.



In light of Good Friday and Easter, Speaker Berri extended his best wishes to the Lebanese community, emphasizing the spiritual and humanitarian values of these occasions and expressing hope for unity and justice.
