Berri Engages with UNTSO Chief on Regional Developments, Discusses MEA Operations with Airline Chairman

BEIRUT: House Speaker Nabih Berri held meetings with the Chief of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) and the Chairman of Middle East Airlines (MEA) to discuss regional developments and the operational conditions of Lebanon’s national airline. The discussions took place at the second presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Berri’s meeting with Major General Patrick Gauchat, Chief of UNTSO in Lebanon, included UNTSO’s Liaison Office Beirut’s Lieutenant Colonel Dieter Bachmann and analyst Tony Bolger. The talks focused on the current situation in Lebanon and the broader region, as well as the ongoing tasks and efforts of the UN mission. Speaker Berri’s Advisor, Ali Hamdan, was also present during the discussions.

In a separate meeting, Berri conferred with MEA Chairman Mohammad Hout about the status of the Middle East Company. The talks highlighted the challenges faced by the airline and its role in maintaining connectivity between Lebanon an
d the world amid the Israeli aggression on Lebanon. Speaker Berri expressed his gratitude to the MEA leadership and staff for their commitment and resilience during this period.
