BERYTECH ORGANIZES ITS “GREEN INNOVATION DAYS 2022” ON OCTOBER 11, 12 & 13, FUNDED BY DUTCH EMBASSY IN BEIRUT

In a press release by Berytech, it announced the holding of its first edition of the “Green Innovation Days 2022″ (#GrID2022) in Lebanon on October 11, 12, and 13 at Le Royal Hotel Dbayeh, focusing on circularity, sustainable development and innovation in clean technology.

The event is organized by Berytech and funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Beirut and the ENI CBC MED.

The 3-day event aims to shed the light on circular economy trends in the region and innovations in the water, waste, energy, food, and transportation sectors in Lebanon, matching potential investors with innovative startups and exposing attendees to the different opportunities in these sectors including Berytech’s multiple programs, activities and innovators.

Local And International Partners

“Our mission to nurture Lebanese innovations in the green and circular economy has been in action for years through ongoing programs with our partners around the Mediterranean and Europe”, confirms Ramy Boujawdeh, Berytech’s COO.

He added: “However, the recent world events have proven the frailty of its different economies and the undeniable interconnectivity of energy, food, and water. Lebanon’s race toward renewable energy as it desperately tries to survive a failed infrastructure and increasing oil prices is a meager example of why renewability, sustainability, and circularity are no longer alternatives, but foundations to sustain the planet for future generations.”

“Through the Green Innovations Days 2022, Berytech aims to gather innovators, stakeholders, investors, and policymakers in Lebanon and the region to work together towards that goal,” Boujawdeh asserted.

For his part, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Lebanon, H.E Hans Peter van der Woude, stated: “Sustainability and digitization transitions are at the heart of the Netherlands’ support in Lebanon and worldwide for the coming years. I am therefore very proud that on this day, together with our partner Berytech, we can bring together so many innovative, smart and important solutions to move the sustainability agenda further at the first #GrID2022 event. The current energy and capital crises in Lebanon make, in my opinion, the transition to renewable energy a no-brainer. The Netherlands is looking into possibilities to de-risk investments in green alternatives and will continue to support talented youth and women to find new opportunities for the green transition in Lebanon for the coming years.”

“The mission of the ENI CBC MED Programme is to foster fair, equitable, and sustainable economic, social and territorial development, which may advance cross-border integration and valorize participating countries’ territories and values. The strategy is based on the following two overall objectives: promote economic and social development and address common challenges in the environment. Innovation is an engine of the development of the Euro-Mediterranean area. Start-ups and innovative ecosystems have the potential to produce jobs and, increasingly, encourage economic growth. Climate change, health disparities, water scarcity, and migration are just some of the global concerns that can only be tackled via collaborative research and innovation,” specifies Khaled Elsaadany, Innovation and Technology transfer Expert, ENI CBC MED Programme.

40+ Speakers, 35+ Activities & 45+ Startups

The exhibition space will host six different programs supporting clean technology in different sectors and 45+ cleantech startups innovating in the fields of water, waste, energy, food, and transportation.

Guests are invited to join the conversation on trends, challenges and opportunities in circularity, sustainable development and green solutions to name a few with 40+ international speakers taking part in 20+ talks, chats, panel discussions and roundtables. In parallel, scheduled Demo Sessions will feature a roaster of startups pitching clean and sustainable solutions live for the very first time to the public.

A dedicated space for workshops will host multiple sessions on topics in clustering, funding digitalization, research to business opportunities, and sustainable transitions amongst many others in circularity and clean technology.

Networking & Matchmaking

While Berytech will be organizing closed matchmaking and brokerage activities for selected startups and businesses participating in the event, the entire #GrID2022 event is designed to facilitate networking for visitors. Berytech has allocated areas where entrepreneurs and businesses can meet and build linkages, establish partnerships and initiate collaborations with different stakeholders.

The event comes following the huge success of the third edition of the Agri-Food Innovation Days #AFID2022 this year which attracted more than 5000 visitors, facilitated more than 100 matchmaking sessions, and organized more than 25 activities throughout the 3 days.
