Beirut: There's only one month left to apply for the UK Government's flagship Chevening Scholarships programme for the scholastic year 27-28. Prospective candidates should submit their applications via chevening.org/apply by 6 October 2026 before 2pm Beirut time. Lebanese citizens, as well as Palestinians residing in Lebanon, are eligible to apply under the Lebanon scheme in any subject area.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the programme offers fully funded master's degrees at UK universities to individuals ready to join a global network of future leaders, equipped with world-class knowledge, UK connections, and shared values. This initiative aims to address global challenges and drive sustainable development in their communities and beyond. Additionally, Lebanon benefits from the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) Chevening Fellowship, which allows mid-career academics and professionals to engage in five months of independent research at the University of Oxford, focusing on Islam, Muslim societies, and their global roles.
The scholarship scheme for Lebanon features two local partnerships. The Chevening-Siren Associates Scholarship, now in its sixth year, offers one scholarship to a Lebanese or Palestinian national (normally residing in Lebanon) for a master's degree in Governance, International Development, Human Rights, or Public Financial Management/Administration at one of the UK's top 20 universities. The Chevening-Raffy Manoukian Scholarship, in its third year, provides up to three scholarships for studies in Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, STEM, and related fields at one of the UK's top 10 universities.
Furthermore, the British Embassy in Beirut has been offering The Chevening-Rebecca Dykes Scholarship since 2017. This scholarship is awarded to a woman pursuing a master's degree in areas such as Gender Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development and Human Rights, or Refugee and Migration Studies. The candidate is selected by the British Embassy upon being awarded the Chevening scholarship.
