Beirut: Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, on Wednesday visited Akkar Mufti, Sheikh Zayd Bakkar Zakaria, at his residence in Al-Qurna, accompanied by religious and social figures. The visit underscored the ongoing support of Saudi Arabia for Lebanon’s stability and unity.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the Saudi diplomat later proceeded to the Dar al-Fatwa in Halba for a broader meeting that brought together religious, political, and civil leaders from Akkar. This gathering highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation among Lebanon’s diverse communities.

The meeting was attended by notable figures including MPs Mohammed Sleiman, Mohammed Yahya, and Assaad Dergham; Akkar Governor Imad Labaki; Orthodox Bishop Basilios Mansour; and Maronite Archdiocesan Vicar Father Elias Jergis, representing Bishop Youssef Soueif. Representatives from other sects and local leaders also participated in the discussions.

During the event, speakers expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s steadfast support for Lebanon and its people. Ambassador Bukhari emphasized the significance of nurturing Lebanon’s diverse communities, praising Akkar as a model of coexistence and expressing optimism for Lebanon’s future.

Mufti Zakaria reciprocated by acknowledging the Kingdom’s outreach efforts and the potential for future bilateral agreements. He described Saudi Arabia as a leader in the Arab and Islamic worlds and a pivotal player in promoting peace in the region.
