House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday received at his Ain El Tineh residence the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, in the presence of the UN Special coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis, and UNIFIL Commander in South Lebanon, Major General Stefano Del Col.
Talks reportedly touched on the current situation in Lebanon and the role of UNIFIL in south Lebanon.
Speaker Berri underlined the cordial relations between UNIFIL and the southerners, yet expressing concern over the delay in the demarcation of the maritime border.
Berri emphasized the importance of the UN’s role in this regard.
Later, Berri met with National Defense Minister, Elias Bou Saab, with whom he discussed the general situation in the country, as well as relevant ministerial affairs.
On emerging, Minister Bou Saab said he briefed the Speaker on the atmosphere of his recent meetings at the Munich and Washington conferences.
This afternoon, Berri received former MP Nasser Qabdil, with talks reportedly touching on the general situation.
