As for cholera, it said that no new cases or death were reported.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a meeting at the Grand Serail on Thursday, devoted to discussing the condition of the healthcare sector and the demands of hospitals.

The meeting was attended by Health Minister Firas Abiad, Finance Minister Youssof Khalil, a delegation of the House Committee of Public Health chaired by MP Bilal Abdallah, and Director General of the Ministry of Finance George Maarrawi.

Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Abiad, on Thursday received at his ministry office, Norwegian Ambassador to Lebanon, Martin Yttervik, accompanied by the representative of the World Health Organization in Lebanon Abdel Nasser Abu Bakr.

Discussions reportedly touched on the joint projects related to epidemiological surveillance programs to respond to emergencies, epidemics, and maternal and child health.

Ambassador Yttervik hailed the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Public Health to combat the Corona epidemic and its rapid response to contain the cholera outbreak in Lebanon.

The Ambassador added, “We look forward to continuing to support the Ministry of Public Health, together with the World Health Organization.”

For his part, Minister Abiad expressed appreciation of the partnership with the international community and the World Health Organization to strengthen the country’s health sector.

In a report published Friday evening on Corona cases, the Ministry of Public Health announced the registration of “215 new infections, which raised the cumulative number of confirmed cases to-date to 1,225,047,” adding that “one death was recorded.”

The Health Ministry also published a report on cholera cases in Lebanon, as no new infection was recorded, and accordingly the cumulative number of confirmed cases settled at 671, with no new deaths recorded, maintaining the cumulative number of deaths at 23.”
