Kuwait handball youth team qualified for the finals of the Arab Youth Handball tournament, after defeating Saudi Arabia 30-29 on Sunday.

The Kuwaiti team will face the winner between the Moroccan team and Tunisia in the semifinal.

The tournament currently being held in the city of Casablanca.

The Kuwait national Judo team clinched a gold medal along with three silvers at the Gulf Youth Games 2024, held in UAE, and will continue until May 2nd.

Abdullah Al-Daihani secured the gold medal in the 90kg weight category, while Hussein Mahawis (95kg), Ali Al-Shammari (66kg), Ali Al-Jadi (73kg), and Qasem Mishal (81kg) all secured silver medals.

In past few days, in the 55kg weight category, Sultan Al-Otaibi captured the gold medal, while Khaled Al-Kindi, Ali Al-Shammari (66kg), and Saud Al-Enezi (60kg) secured bronze medals.

The competition commenced on April 16th with the participation of 3,500 male and female athletes competing in 24 individual and team events.

Kuwaiti powerboat team made two achievements in the first round of the 2024 World Championship Endurance, organized by the International Powerboat Federation in the Spanish city of Sanxenxo, which concluded its competitions Sunday.

Head of the Kuwaiti delegation, head of the speedboat, wakeboard, and freediving committee at the Kuwaiti Marine Sports Club, Ali Al-Shamali, said that world champions Bader Al-Dosari and his assistant, Mohammed Al-Essayie, won second place in the “Production Boat Class” category (B) for single-engine boats with a power of 300 horsepower.

He added that world champion Khaled Karam and his assistant Adel Al-Sharidah won third place in the Promotion Class category (P) for single-engine boats with a power of 150 horsepower in the two-day tournament in the Galicia region in northeastern Spain.

Al-Shamali expressed his joy for the two wins, which witnessed great competition, a distinguished presence from all the contestants, and wide public attention.

thers from several countries, including Belgium, the United Kingdom, Malta, Italy and Spain, in the first round of the 2024 tournament, which consists of three rounds, with the second round scheduled to take place in Belgium next June.

The Kuwaiti champions clinched on Saturday nine medals at the First Youth GCC Games, being hosted by the UAE between April 16 and May 2.

These include five medals (three gold and two silver) the Kuwait swimmers, and four (one gold and three bronze) for Judo team. The swimming team made up of Hamad Al-Ghaith, Hassan Zayd, Saud Al-Enzi and Hmoud Hamed won the gold medal of the 200 m x 4 race while Mohammad Hamed won the gold medal of the 100 m backstroke race and Saud Al-Enzi won gold in the 200 m butterfly race.

Hussein Rajab and Abdullah Al-Sultan won the silver medals of the 400 m mixed and the 100 m backstroke, respectively.

In the judo competitions Sultan Al-Otaibi won silver, while Khaled Al-Kandari, Ali Al-Shemmeri and Saud Al-Anzi won bronze medals each.

Two children were killed after a ‘grenade’ exploded inside their house in Al-Askari neighborhood in the city of Al-Amara, the governorate’s center.

A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): ‘The two children tampered with a ‘hand grenade’ that was inside their house, causing it to explode, causing their immediate death.’

Kuwait on Saturday won 16 more miscellaneous medals in karate, swimming, table tennis, archery and electronic games in the First Gulf Youth Games, which kicked off in the UAE on April 16.

Kuwait’s national karate team won 10 medals, including three gold, one silver and six bronze, while swimmers obtained three medals; one gold and two bronze.

The country’s table tennis squad clinched one silver medal, and its archery team won one bronze medal. In electronic games, Kuwait secured one bronze medal.

Hosted by the UAE, the first Gulf Youth Games kicked off on 16th April and will conclude on 2nd May 2024, with the participation of 3,500 male and female athletes competing in 24 disciplines, under the theme, “Our Gulf is One… Our youth are promising”.

The Beirut Marathon Association continues its participation in international marathons through periodic delegations.

The race director at the association, Irabi Nael, participated in the 2024 Boston Marathon, which is the oldest historically, with its 128th edition, featuring 35,000 runners from around the world.

Nael recorded a time of 00:44:3 hours and also volunteered for a full day at the race expo.

Nael also participated in the London Marathon as a runner and as an assistant to runners to complete the marathon distance (under 4 hours). The operations manager at the association, Francoise Nehme, was present at the race.

Nael and Nehme discussed with a representative from the London Marathon organizing committee the arrival of a technical team to assist the association in the Beirut Marathon scheduled for November 10th.

Kuwait national team temporarily took the lead in Group Four, accumulating four points from two matches, while Iran secured three points from one match, and Afghanistan earned one point.
