China on Monday issued a travel warning for Lebanon amid heightened tensions and fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East. In a statement, the Chinese embassy in Lebanon asked nationals to be cautious when traveling to the country, calling the security situation there "grave and complex." It comes amid cross border duels by Israel and Hezbollah and a deadly Israeli air strike last week on the Lebanese capital Beirut. In a notice published Monday night, the embassy told Chinese citizens and institutions in Lebanon to "stay on high alert and strengthen security precautions and preparations for emergencies".
