Choucair Reviews Security at Masnaa Border Crossing, Ensures Control

Masnaa: Director General of General Security, Major General Hassan Choucair, visited the Masnaa border crossing today, accompanied by his advisor, Brigadier General Amer Al-Mays, where they were welcomed by several officers. Choucair evaluated the security measures in place, confirming they are orderly and under control.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Choucair highlighted that the primary focus is the safety of personnel and equipment at the crossing, asserting that the crossing is legitimate and cannot be used for arms smuggling. He clarified that all trucks undergo thorough inspection procedures, dismissing allegations of smuggling as baseless, especially considering the political situation in Syria, which impedes such activities.

Choucair mentioned that there is ongoing communication between the Cabinet, the President, and the Egyptian side, with results expected soon as part of efforts to protect the crossing from any threats. He noted that the Syrian authorities are also cooperating in this effort.

Choucair urged security personnel to remain vigilant and to coordinate closely with the army and customs. He emphasized that the protection of personnel and the center is crucial. He also confirmed that contacts are ongoing through the Egyptian initiative, along with international efforts, particularly by Egypt and the United States, aimed at neutralizing the crossing and reopening it promptly.
