DABBOUR, LAZZARINI DISCUSS COVERING NEEDS OF PALESTINIAN REFUGEES

Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ashraf Dabbour, met today with the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, in the presence of the Acting Director of Agency Affairs in Lebanon, Munir Menna.

According to the embassy statement, discussions during the meeting touched on “ways to mobilize additional resources to cover the urgent needs of Palestinian refugees, as statistics showed that nearly 90% of them live below the poverty line, and urgent action is required for the international community to carry out its duties and responsibilities towards the just cause of Palestinian refugees, alongside concerted efforts to alleviate their suffering.”

The Commissioner-General briefed Ambassador Dabbour on the outcome of the emergency appeal launched by the Agency to assist the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the Palestinian refugees from Syria.

Ambassador Dabbour, in turn, called on the Commissioner-General to consider amending the hospital bill, particularly that of cancer and incurable diseases’ patients, and completing the dossier of reconstructing the Nahr al-Bared camp and providing residents with care and working to increase job opportunities.
