DERIAN: WE LOST A LEADER FOR COEXISTENCE, UNITY AND DIALOGUE

Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Darian, mourned the head of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Abdul-Amir Qabalan, saying: “With his passing, we lost a great scholar and a great spiritual and religious reference.”

“With the death of Imam Sheikh Abdul-Amir Qabalan, the Lebanese and Arab arena lost a man of outstanding attitude and personality and a symbol of Islamic unity in Lebanon,” he added.

“His life was characterized by tolerance, love, openness with bright words, noble manners, wisdom, moderation, patience, courage and boldness to speak the truth,” Derian went on.

“The late was calling for the unity of the Lebanese and the Arabness of Lebanon, and had many religious and national achievements, especially in the spiritual summits that were held in Dar Al-Fatwa, Bkerke, the Shiite Council and the Druze community. He was one of the advocates of integration and convergence between sects, and one of the most prominent advocates of dialogue and rapprochement in the service of humanity. One of the leaders of coexistence, national unity and dialogue and their pillars,” he continued.

Finally, Mufti Derian extended his sincere condolences to all Muslims and Lebanese, to the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council and to the family of the deceased and his loved ones.
