Beirut: The Director of the Tyre Municipalities Union, Mr. Mortada Mhanna, on behalf of the President of the Union, Mr. Hassan Dbouk, and in the presence of Mr. Alwan Sharafeddine, received the Commander of the Italian Contingente, Colonel Giacomo TRICASE, who presented a donation of food supplies to the Tyre Municipalities Union.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the donation was preceded by a meeting during which Director Muhanna expressed gratitude to the Italian Contingent operating within UNIFIL for its significant role in the local community and its continued support for the Union during the recent crisis. Despite the challenges, the Italian Contingent has remained committed to assisting the local community through various donations. Director Muhanna also discussed with Colonel TRICASE the Union’s efforts in supporting the residents of the Tyre District, particularly the displaced, and the challenges they encounter.

Colonel TRICASE, in response, conveyed his appreciation to the Union’s President and Director, Mr. Mortada Mhanna, for the warm reception. He stressed that the donation reflects UNIFIL’s and the Italian contingent’s commitment to supporting the local community, represented by its official bodies and institutions, to help them regain normalcy. He reiterated the Italian contingent’s ongoing cooperation with the local community for its welfare.

The visit concluded with a tour of the homes of displaced persons and an inspection of an agricultural support project funded by the Union and an international donor organization.
