Beirut: Sheikh Al-Akl of the Unitarian Druze Sect, Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, welcomed the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, at the Druze Dar El-Taefa in Verdun. Their meeting centered on the current state of affairs in Lebanon, especially in light of the ongoing security and military tensions, including the Israeli assaults on the country and their associated humanitarian impacts.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the dialogue between Sheikh Abi Al-Muna and Plasschaert highlighted the Sheikh's efforts, alongside other religious authorities, to sustain continuous dialogue and collaborative initiatives aimed at safeguarding civil peace. These efforts are crucial to mitigating sectarian tensions and political discord while promoting national unity.
Sheikh Al-Akl underscored the pressing necessity to halt the Israeli offensives immediately and ensure civilian safety. He stressed that internal dialogues among officials are vital for crisis resolution. Emphasizing the importance of national solidarity, he stated that Lebanon's current situation demands unity, free from divisive narratives. Sheikh Al-Muna also affirmed the critical role of religious authorities in elevating national discourse to bolster unity and coexistence, asserting that Lebanon's prosperity hinges on the collective solidarity and partnership of its people.
