Beirut:Economy and Trade Minister Amer Bisat and American University of Beirut (AUB) President Dr. Fadlo Khuri have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) designed to integrate academic research into economic policymaking in Lebanon. The signing ceremony took place at the university, emphasizing the collaboration's focus on addressing the nation's economic challenges through academic engagement.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the MoU aims to leverage AUB's academic expertise to support economic recovery and growth. Minister Bisat highlighted the importance of Lebanon's human capital and the role academic institutions like AUB play in harnessing this asset. The partnership is expected to translate research findings into practical economic policy measures.

The agreement encompasses several areas, including market and price analysis, competition enhancement, export opportunities, and trade policy research. Additionally, it emphasizes capacity-building within the ministry and prioritizes evidence-based economic decision-making. Opportunities for student involvement are also a key component, with provisions for internships, applied research, and projects that align with the ministry's goals.

Minister Bisat stressed the benefit of engaging students, noting that their participation would provide practical experience in tackling real-world economic issues. This collaboration is anticipated to infuse the ministry with fresh ideas and innovative approaches, benefiting both the students and the nation's economic landscape.
