Amman: Minister of Environment Tamara Zein participated in the “Green Forward” regional event held in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The event was organized by Expertise France and funded by the European Union, as part of regional efforts to promote green and circular economy policies in the southern Mediterranean region.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Minister Zein’s participation in this high-level regional event affirmed Lebanon’s commitment to promoting the transition to a sustainable economy and contributed to deepening the regional dialogue on integrated environmental and economic policies. This participation also represented an opportunity to exchange experiences with a number of ministers, decision-makers, and experts from the southern neighboring countries, particularly in light of the common environmental and economic challenges facing the region.
On the sidelines of the event, Minister Zein held a series of bilateral meetings, most notably with Jordanian Minister of Environment Muawiyah Radaideh, where they discussed ways of bilateral cooperation and enhancing regional coordination on common environmental issues. Zein also met with the Director General of Expertise France, J©r©mie Pellet, and his team, where they discussed the possibility of cooperating on some of the reforms planned for implementation within the ministry’s action plan.
More than 180 representatives from governments, international organizations, the private sector, universities, and civil society took part in the event, as part of the Green Forward efforts to create a sustainable regional dialogue platform to accelerate the transition to a green economy in the Mediterranean region.
