ESCWA Warns Conflict Could Cut Arab Economic Output by Nearly $150 Billion in One Month

Beirut: The conflict is already imposing heavy economic costs across the Arab region, with preliminary estimates pointing to about $63 billion in regional losses within two weeks, according to a new policy brief issued today by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) under the title "Conflict and its shockwaves: escalation of a crisis in the Arab region". The brief warns that, if the conflict continues for a month, losses could reach nearly $150 billion, or 3.7% of regional GDP.

According to National Nws Aency - Lebanon, the ESCWA report highlights the potential economic fallout if the conflict persists, projecting significant financial repercussions for the region. The report underscores the urgent need for resolution to avoid further economic deterioration, stressing the importance of swift diplomatic efforts to mitigate the ongoing crisis.
