“Fact Check Lebanon” Unit Revives to Bolster News Credibility Amid Media Misinformation

Beirut: The Ministry of Information announced that, with the support of the UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut, the "Fact Check Lebanon" unit at the Ministry has been reactivated. This move is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the credibility of media work and promote a culture of information verification in Lebanon.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Ministry pointed out that the public can now follow the unit's activities through its official online platform, https://factchecklebanon.nna-leb.gov.lb/. The platform offers access to fact-checking of news and rumors circulating both locally and internationally.

The "Fact Check Lebanon" unit at the Ministry of Information also urged citizens to report misleading or inaccurate news through the "Report a Rumor" option on the website. A specialized team is tasked with reviewing requests, verifying the information, and publishing the results, thereby ensuring that accurate and reliable news reaches the public.

The Ministry emphasized that reactivating the unit is aimed at promoting a professional and responsible media environment. This initiative enables citizens to access correct information, especially in times of crisis. It is part of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Information and UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut, which seeks to support media and information literacy and combat fake news. This collaboration contributes to raising public awareness and enhancing decision-making based on accurate information.
