The families of detainees in Lebanese prisons on Friday carried out a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Interior in Sanayeh, in which a number of prisoners’ families participated in blocking the road in both directions, NNA correspondent said.

A speech was delivered on behalf of the prisoners’ mothers calling for the adoption of a general amnesty because “the proposal to reduce the prison sentence to 6 months is no longer sufficient due to the dire situation in prisons, as well as the prisoners’ deteriorating health and nutritional conditions, especially that it has been difficult for families to reach their children and provide them with food and medicine as a result of the country’s ailing economic and living conditions.”
