Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) , Nayef Fayez, on Tuesday inaugurated the 9th Aqaba International Insurance Conference, which is organized by the Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF) , in cooperation with the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) under the theme: “Together We Create the Future”. During the conference, which was attended by 1,200 participants from 30 Arab and foreign countries, Fayez highlighted insurance role in stimulating investment, calling on concerned managers and shareholders in the insurance sector, whether local or international companies, to seize ASEZA’s investment opportunities and incentives. Fayez said Aqaba region is witnessing a “distinguished” investor climate and economic growth in all sectors, especially industries that need a “flexible” business environment to achieve their sustainability and development. For his part, JIF President, and head of the conference’s organizing committee, Majed Smeirat, lauded ASEZA’s role and keenness to support the event since its launch in 2008, which contributed to success of its 9th edition. Smeirat added that the 2023 conference discussed several axes, primarily alternative solutions to resolve disputes, practices of institutional risk management in the insurance markets, and the sector’s mergers and acquisitions. Meanwhile, GAIF President, Yousef Bin Messiah, said the event became a “high-level and global” insurance forum, adding that this achievement is “source of pride” for the Arab insurance industry.
