FRENCH AMBASSADOR: THE LEBANESE HAVE THE RIGHT TO THE TRUTH

French Ambassador Anne Grillo tweeted today on the anniversary of the tragic Beirut Port blast: “Two years have passed, but the pain is still in our hearts. Today I think of the victims who will not be forgotten, of their relatives, of the firefighters, paramedics, and all those who came to help on that day. We bow before their courage. The investigation must be pursued appropriately, independent and impartial, without hindrances and with the full support of the Lebanese authorities. The rebuilding of a country and people cannot take place without justice. The Lebanese have the right to the truth.”

She added: “France is committed to Lebanon’s support and is fulfilling its promises. As President Macron announced on August 4, 2021, France has provided more than 100 million euros for the benefit of the people of Lebanon in the fields of education, health and food support.”

“The Lebanese Red Cross is one of our partners,” Grillo said.
