GEAGEA BROACHES LATEST DEVELOPMENTS WITH US AMBASSADOR

Lebanese Forces Party leader, Samir Geagea, on Friday met in Maarab, with US Ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shea, accompanied by the Embassy’s Political Affairs Chief, Amy Smith, and the Embassy Advisor, Fadi Hafez.

The meeting took place in the presence of the Party’s Foreign Relations Chief, former minister Richard Kouyoumjian, and LF Central Council member, Mark Saad.

Discussions reportedly touched on the latest developments on the Lebanese scene.

During the hour-and-a-half meeting, Geagea stressed that the recent developments necessitate the immediate formation of an international inquiry commission to help uncover the truth in the Beirut Port blast file and to rectify the course of justice.

Geagea also reaffirmed that the main prelude to the country’s political and economic solution stems from the election of a president of the republic, who would achieve change and salvation.

“What is required today is to block the way before the disruptors by keeping the sessions of the House of Parliament open until this election is secured,” Geagea said.

The LF leader also discussed with Ambassador Shea the necessity of protecting the Lebanese national wealth after the completion of the maritime demarcation agreement through establishing a sovereign fund.

Geagea thanked Shea for all the support provided by the United States of America to the Lebanese army and security forces, and congratulated her on her recent appointment within her country’s mission to the United Nations, wishing her success in her new duties.
