Geagea Hosts Swedish Christian Democrats for Strategic Dialogue in Maarab

Maarab: Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea, on Wednesday welcomed a delegation from Sweden’s Christian Democratic Party to Maarab. The Swedish delegation included MPs Yusef Aydin, Magnus Jacobsson, and Magnus Bernetsson. The discussions centered on potential collaborations between Sweden, Europe, and Lebanon, with a focus on shared values and political agendas.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Bernetsson characterized the dialogue as productive, noting the alignment in perspectives on global and Middle Eastern issues. He referred to Lebanon as a ‘model of hope’ for the region. Yusef Aydin, responsible for minority rights within his party, reiterated Sweden’s dedication to backing Lebanon’s stability, pluralism, and peaceful coexistence.

Magnus Jacobsson highlighted the significance of decentralization, suggesting opportunities for collaboration between Sweden and Lebanon in local governance and education sectors. The Swedish MPs commended the Lebanese Forces for their crucial role in national politics and their dedication to inclusive governance.

In a separate engagement, Geagea continued his outreach within Lebanon, meeting with newly elected municipal councils from the towns of Batloun and Bmahray in the Aley district.
