Beirut: Kataeb Party leader MP Sami Gemayel emphasized that achieving the Lebanon envisioned by its people requires restoring national sovereignty, independent decision-making, and a strong and capable state. Speaking at a ceremony honoring 50-year-old members of the Kataeb's Batroun district, Gemayel said Lebanon is at a critical turning point, which he described as an opportunity to move away from what he called "Iranian tutelage" and its involvement in a war that, he said, Lebanon had no role in.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Gemayel stressed that the current moment should not be wasted, citing what he described as a unified Lebanese position on sovereignty and supportive positions from the president and prime minister. He further articulated that Lebanon must not return to a situation in which it "coexists with weapons," arguing that economic growth, stability, and reducing emigration require a state monopoly over arms.

He described addressing the issue of illegal weapons as a decisive national matter, emphasizing that the solution will not happen automatically and that the state must fully exercise its constitutional role.
