Germany: Surrender of the Syrian refugee suspected of carrying out the Solingen attack

German police announced today, Sunday, the surrender of the main suspect in the stabbing attack that took place in the city of Solingen on Friday evening, which claimed the lives of three people. Dusseldorf police said in a statement that "a 26-year-old Syrian man surrendered himself to the investigating authorities and claimed responsibility for the attack." According to the German newspapers "Bild" and "Spiegel", the suspect arrived in Germany at the end of December 2022, where he benefits from a protection status often granted to people fleeing his country, and he was not known to the security services as an extremist before the attack.
