Beirut: Following a Cabinet session at Baabda Palace, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that Lebanon will submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council over the recent surge in Israeli attacks, including the deadly strikes on April 8 in Beirut. The attacks, he said, have caused numerous civilian casualties and flout both international law and humanitarian principles, undermining global and regional efforts to halt the conflict.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, in a parallel move, the government has directed the Lebanese army and security forces to fully restore state control in Beirut, limiting weapons to authorized personnel, strictly enforcing the law, and prosecuting any violators. Officials stressed that these measures aim to safeguard citizens, protect property, and reinforce government authority amid rising tensions.
