Hani: Agricultural Minister Nizar Hani said ongoing Israeli attacks have caused unprecedented damage to Lebanon's agricultural sector, affecting around 56,000 hectares of farmland and generating losses exceeding $1.5 billion.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Hani noted that the conflict has severely impacted crops, livestock and beekeeping, while damaging centuries-old olive groves. He stressed that food security remains stable thanks to local production and coordinated import measures.

The minister expressed optimism about reopening the Saudi market to Lebanese agricultural exports and highlighted the ministry's 2025-2035 agricultural strategy, focused on innovation, sustainability and climate resilience.

He also announced that 82,000 farmers have registered in the National Agricultural Registry and reaffirmed plans to attract investment, strengthen agricultural support programs and enhance consumer protection through stricter food labeling and dairy-sector oversight.
