Beirut: Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri engaged in a series of diplomatic meetings on Monday, hosting Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, at Beit Al-Wasat. Future Movement Vice President Bahia Hariri and advisers Ghattas Khoury and Hani Hammoud were present during the discussions.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Moussa conveyed condolences on the 21st anniversary of Rafik Hariri's assassination and characterized the talks as "very positive." He noted a shift in Hariri's tone regarding Lebanon's future, emphasizing that Hariri and the Future Movement remain essential components of Lebanon's political framework. Moussa further indicated that Egypt considers Hariri's political involvement crucial.
When questioned about the possibility of Hariri's return from political suspension, Moussa acknowledged sensing a willingness to re-engage. However, he emphasized that the decision ultimately lies with Hariri, especially in the context of the upcoming elections.
In addition to meeting the Egyptian envoy, Hariri also engaged with the ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, and the Netherlands, focusing on bilateral relations and current developments. He later held discussions with Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan, concentrating on domestic and regional issues.
