Head of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Dr. Pierre Jalakh, on Thursday visited Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports, Vartine Ohanian, along with an accompanying delegation, and briefed her on the committee’s project and vision to unify the capabilities of the ministry of sports and the olympic committee in a bid to “develop a unified strategy, make use of external protocols, and coordinate Lebanon’s participation in the upcoming Olympic Games.”
“It was a first protocol visit to brief her Excellency on our plans, as a newly elected committee, to develop national sport in the near future,” Jalakh said on emerging.
“We’ve discussed many matters, especially the importance of coordination between the committee and the ministry, so that we can jointly promote the county’s sports movement at various levels. We focused on the best means to benefit from existing or potential protocols between the Lebanese state and friendly countries, and between the Olympic Committee and friendly committees,” Jalakh added. “These protocols, in our opinion, are of paramount importance because they can open doors that we need to benefit from training camps and trainers,” Jalakh added.
Jalakh concluded, “We’ve also discussed Lebanon’s participation in the next Tokyo Olympics, through the participation of Ray Bassil and other athletes.”
