The President of the Council of Ministers Saad Hariri received today at the “Grand Serail” the Head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Lebanon Christophe Martin. After the meeting, Martin said: “I am very thankful to Prime Minister Hariri who received an ICRC delegation today. We had a very trustful, honest and open discussion on a certain number of issues that we brought to Premier Hariri’s attention.

The first one was a position paper on returnees and refugees, where the ICRC brings up a number of recommendations and engages in a dialogue with the authorities in Lebanon on the situation of Syrian refugees and what would be the conditions adequate for the people to go back to Syria. We had another discussion on a very important file that the ICRC is following, on people who had been missing because of the civil war and consequent conflicts here in Lebanon. We received a clear indication from the side of Premier Hariri wanting to support the ICRC file in pushing further and supporting the families for their right to know. We had as well a discussion around the ICRC partnership that we are currently having in supporting the Rafic Hariri University Hospital through a long term five year perspective and engaging in supporting this hospital to provide support, services and health care to the most destitute populations here in Lebanon.”

Hariri received the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Lebanon Jan Waltmans and discussed with him the latest developments and the bilateral relations between Lebanon and the Netherlands.
