Beirut: Former President General Emile Lahoud stated that “the importance of the historic visit made by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to Lebanon lies in the fact that it was filled with peace, hope and humanity, especially when we see this direct link between the Lebanese, from different sects, and the head of the Catholic Church, from the moment of his arrival at the airport through all the stops.”
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Lahoud mentioned in a statement that everyone welcomed the Pope because they know how much he loves Lebanon, noting that this is an example for all officials to follow suit in loving their people just as His Holiness does.
“In addition to the spiritual nature of the visit, it comes at a time when our homeland is subjected to continuous attacks, not to mention the covetousness of its land,” Lahoud continued.
He highlighted that His Holiness’s visit was a sign of solidarity with this homeland and its suffering people, affirming that this land will remain for its people and not for the tyrants, extremists, and oppressors who aim to change history and identity. Lahoud emphasized that even if these adversaries are currently consumed by illusions, they will eventually be shattered, as many others have been throughout history, allowing the people of faith, will, and truth to prevail.
