Beirut: A new milestone in pediatric surgical care has been achieved at H´tel-Dieu de France with the successful performance of a retroperitoneoscopic excision of an adrenal tumor in a child, a highly specialized minimally invasive procedure that provides direct access to the adrenal gland without the need for an abdominal incision.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the operation was carried out by Dr. Marianne Alam under the supervision of Prof. Nabil Diab, drawing on advanced surgical expertise and a multidisciplinary approach tailored to the specific needs of pediatric patients.
The technique offers significant benefits, including reduced postoperative pain, faster recovery, minimal scarring, and a shorter hospital stay, allowing discharge within 48 hours despite the complexity of the procedure.
